Having already taken on pro basketball and baseball, 1996’s Space Jam was Michael Jordan’s movie star turn. It saw MJ cast alongside Bugs Bunny and myriad other Looney Tunes in a big screen event that not only further established Jordan as a transcendent celebrity, but also gave us one of the most iconic colorways of the Air Jordan 11. Nearly twenty years later, the film is still inspiring jaw-dropping kicks, as evidenced by the new Converse Space Invader pack.
Drawing directly from characters in the film, the pack consists of two beloved Cons basketball models. The Aero Jam Mid Invader sports a premium purple nubuck upper with darker tonal detailing and a galactic print on the inner-lining, a look informed by Bupkus, the alien that stole Larry Johnson’s powers in the movie.
The Cons Weapon Mid Invader, meanwhile, channels everyone’s favorite pint-sized alien. Marvin the Martin’s signature palette is appropriated by the simple silhouette, with black nubuck giving way to green leather, while a glow-in-the-dark outsole and red and yellow laces accentuate the look.
Both shoes are now hitting select global retailers, including Spain’s sivasdescalzo.com.
