Following in the footsteps of prized NikeLab collaborative efforts like the Riccardo Tisci collection, Olivier Rousteing is teaming with the Swoosh for a limited line that draws on the style of the players in this summer’s UEFA Euro 2016 for its inspiration. The Olivier Rousteing x NikeLab Football Nouveau collection marries together Rousteing’s bold, singular sartorial sensibilities with Nike’s game-changing production innovation.
Rousteing, creative director of the Balmain fashion house, channels his lifelong love of soccer for the partnership, taking off-pitch performance pieces and pushing the boundaries on the sport’s expected aesthetics. At every turn, he asked “Would a football player really wear that?,” ensuring that sport was always paramount in each silhouette.
In addition to an array of striking apparel pieces — outlined in detail here — the Olivier Rousteing x NikeLab Football Nouveau collection comprises four shoes. The Footscape Magista and Free Mercurial Flyknit each boast black-and-gold Flyknit uppers with designs integrated directly into the weave, while gold heel-zippers add an elegant touch.
The Free Hypervenom 2 offers a sleek, seamless black upper with gold accents and a special embroidered patch on the sockliner, and the Roshe Tiempo VI is something else entirely; a brand new Roshe model that unites the upper of the Tiempo VI football boot with a classic Roshe sole.
The Olivier Rousteing x NikeLab Football Nouveau collection launches June 2 at select NikeLab accounts worldwide.
