The Ohio State Buckeyes face off Saturday against the 9th-ranked (if wildly, wildly overrated) Nebraska Cornhuskers, and when they take the field they’ll be sporting “Music and Cannon Fire.”
Fanciful as it may be, that’s the nickname of the Ohio State throwback uniforms the Buckeyes will premiere in the Big 10 tilt. Hearkening back to the team’s 1916 look — the year tOSU won its first conference championship — the Music and Cannon Fire gear pairs a gray-striped scarlet jersey with flat gray pants. A matte black helmet underscores the retro feel, and the backs of the jersey (at least in the media images) go nameless. Because it’s 1916 and people don’t wear names on their jerseys.
Check out detailed photos of the Ohio State throwback uniforms below, and look for their debut in Columbus on November 5, at 8pm local time.
