Designed with performance insights from Carlos Gonzalez, one of MLB’s best defensive outfielders, the Nike Vapor 360 fielding glove is the latest addition to the Nike Vapor Collection — a line-up predicated on maximizing speed on the diamond.
Merging technologies heretofore unseen on a baseball glove, the Vapor 360 glove features no-sew Hyperfuse construction with Flywire lockdown, giving way to an engineered leather palm. The resulting piece is lightweight, ultra-responsive and game-ready directly out of the box. While rubber-banding a glove, saturating it with shaving cream or baking it in the oven were fun break-in methods, they’re now just as outdated as . . . well, as they sound.
Eschewing all-over leather, the Vapor 360 instead fuses together layers of performance synthetics throughout most of the glove, with Hyperfuse technology delivering a one-piece panel that’s almost entirely seamless, reducing bulk and stiffness. Traditional leather lacing is replaced with dynamic Flywire to lock in the structure of the glove around the hand, promising a custom fit for each player.
Of course, even the most advanced leather can’t go without leather entirely. Nike finishes the palm of the Vapor 360 with TrueAdapt heel construction to eliminate layers and create a more playable feel, while the leather palm’s perforations offer a softer, more pliable feel.
While Carlos Gonzalez has been playing in the Nike vapor 360 fielding glove since 2013, furnishing Nike designers with feedback all the while, you’ll finally get your shot at it in 2014. The Vapor 360 releases during Holiday 2014.
