The Nike N7 Holiday 2015 collection is set to launch this week, the latest iteration of a line that celebrates Native culture and philosophy, while raising money to increase participation in sport and physical activity among Native American and Aboriginal youth. The Holiday ’15 collection’s theme? “Power of Perseverance.”
Nike N7 once again enlisted acclaimed Native American artist and activist Bunky Echo-Hawk for the project, marking the fifth year of his collaboration with the Swoosh. For the Power of Perserverence collection, Echo-Hawk put a focus on the movement of sport on Native lands, while utilizing imagery that embraces and drives awareness of Native American culture.
Importantly, Echo-Hawk is a prominent figure in the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, and in the Native American community in general, meaning the collection is built on an insider’s perspective while aspiring to an inclusive nature, avoiding the cultural appropriation that’s all too common when corporations draw from Native art and culture.
Below, take a look at several key pieces in the Nike N7 Holiday 2015 collection, including the Pegasus 32 N7, Hyperfr3sh N7, Air Max Thea N7, Hyperdunk 2015 N7 and the latest partnership between the brand and Kevin Durant — the KD 8 N7. The collection launches November 7.
