The day that every sneaker or cinema fan born after 1970 (give or take) has been waiting for has finally arrived: The Nike MAG is available for purchase. Sort of.
The Nike MAG, of course, is the beloved futuristic shoe that Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly character wore in Back to the Future Part II, complete with light-up embellishments and auto-lacing functionality. And yes, the 2016 Nike MAG, unlike the edition that was auctioned off for charity a few years back, does indeed boast the auto-lacing feature. The future has arrived.
And now to the details, which are … less than optimistic for folks hoping to pick up a pair of Marty’s magnificent MAGs. Fewer than 100 pairs of the cinematic icon will be made available, via a raffle-style online drawing. On the plus side, tickets are $10 apiece with all proceeds benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation, an organization known for funding the fight against Parkinson’s disease.
Tickets are available starting today, October 4, through October 11, and there is no limit to how many you can purchase. Get started here. May the odds be ever in your favor.
