The college basketball season ended last month, but thankfully that’s not stopping Nike from continuing the revival of some classic “Be True to Your School” Nike Dunks.
In April, the Swoosh revisited the classic 1985 collection — which saw the then-nascent Dunk color-blocked for some of college basketball’s best teams — by resurrecting the Kentucky and St. John’s pairs. Next up, the Michigan edition (previewed here) and this: the Nike Dunk High UNLV.
Like the Michigan pair, the UNLV edition eschews white on the upper, mixing red overlays with a grey base on the smooth, buttery leather construction. The result’s perfect, instantly evoking those old Runnin’ Rebels teams yet doing so sans official logoing, making the shoe a versatile option for folks who’ve never heard of Jerry Tarkanian.
The Nike Dunk High UNLV is officially set to release May 14, though Sneaker Politics appears to be stocking the shoe early. So be on the lookout going forward, but keep it mind that that early availability could be a mistake, in which case: May 14.
