The unveiling of Nike’s annual Black History Month collection has become an eagerly anticipated event, a celebration of sport-inspired fashion as well as people who positively impact their communities. The 2015 iteration of the collection is one of the most impressive in both regards, and today its unveiling gets underway. Introducing the Nike Basketball Black History Month 2015 collection.
Like all 28 pieces in this year’s line-up — stay tuned for the Nike Sportswear (Edit: Here), Nike SB, Nike Soccer and Jordan Brand (Edit: Here) lines — each product in the Nike Basketball BHM 2015 line sports a simple black and white palette. It’s how those colors are used that yield distinctive aesthetics, however, manifesting themselves in three different patterns that mix and morph throughout each shoe — the Kobe 9 Elite, LeBron 12, Kyrie 1, KD 7 — adding depth, detail and contrast despite limited hues.
The result is striking, despite the monochrome theme — each shoe is utterly singular, completely its own, yet undeniably part of a greater overarching set.
And the wait for each is nearly over. The Nike Basketball Black History Month 2015 collection begins hitting stores January 19, with the Kobe 9 Elite BHM and Kyrie 1 BHM, followed by the LeBron 12 BHM and KD 7 BHM on January 24. Associated apparel will also launch to support each shoe.
