The Rio Games kick off next month, and they’re being ushered in by the return of one of the great Nikes in Olympic history: the Nike Air More Uptempo Olympic.
Debuted by Scottie Pippen at the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, while a member of the storied Dream Team III, the shoe sports a rich navy leather upper, overlaid by the model’s signature oversized “AIR” script — rendered in contrast white, tying in with the toe, tongue-patch and midsole. Pip’s Team USA number, 8, is embroidered on either heel in gold (fittingly), rounding out a historically-accurate recreation of that original. This is truly one of the all-time greats.
And the wait is finally over. The Nike Air More Uptempo Olympic releases today, July 20, at retailers nationwide, including online accounts at 10am EDT/7am PDT. Here’s the Eastbay.com purchase link.
