The Oregon Ducks basketball and football teams often are treated to exclusive school-branded shoes from Nike, but this week it’s the track team that’s getting in on the action. And we’re not talking performance spikes, either, although, sure, they have those too. Instead, with the NCAA Championships just around the corner, the team was given a classic runner-turned-lifestyle model, celebrating the fact that, well, running is a lifestyle.
The Nike Air Huarache Oregon Ducks combines school spirit with classic Nike styling, as a sleek black leather upper is overlaid with stunning grey Elephant print at the toe and heel. At a glance this is Huarache through and through, but the actual leather composition is a departure from the traditional model, comprising more of a solid build than the usual “exoskeleton” set-up. That, coupled with a new soft inner-sock attached at the collar, replacing the usual neoprene bootie, effectively yields a brand new model, albeit one that’s mostly Air Huarache.
Bright green and yellow are then mixed in, bringing Ducks style to the heel, outsole and Swoosh, while each tongue-tab reads “Ducks Track” and each heel is emblazoned with the Oregon Ducks logo, underscoring the theme.
Alas, the Nike Air Huarache Oregon Ducks is a T&F exclusive. A launch isn’t coming. Live vicariously through a few photos below though.
