In June of 2003, Kobe Bryant signed a contract with Nike, following a season as a non-compete-mandated sneaker free agent during which he laced up all manner of kicks, from the Air Jordan 11 to the Reebok Question. Upon signing with the Swoosh, one of the first shoes Bryant wore was a special Lakers colorway of the Air Flight Huarache, and in 2015, a mere twelve(!) years later, you’ll get a crack at the shoe at retail.
Designed as a perfect match for the Lakers’ white alternates — or a complement to their usual home or away sets — the shoe features white through the leather exoskeleton, with purple popping on the collar and neoprene tongue, and yellowish-gold on the heel-counter and liner. Truly, this thing could scarcely scream “Lakers” any louder.
Stay tuned for a release date soon. You’ve waited a decade-and-a-half for this little piece of Kobe history, you can wait a couple weeks longer.
