This Saturday, September 28, the Nike Doernbecher Freestyle X collection will be unveiled, celebrating ten years of the partnership that allows patients at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to design shoes for Nike, with the resulting pairs sold at Nike retailers to raise funds for Doernbecher.
In addition to the unveiling, Nike will also operate an auction for the originals in this year’s collection, as well as a special Doernbecher x Nike Dunk High 10th Anniversary. Pictured above and below, the Dunk features the names of every patient to participate in the Freestyle program emblazoned over the inlays and insoles, celebrating the people who have made Freestyle what it is today.
Reflective leather covers the Swoosh and collar of the shoe, glow-in-the-dark material appears on the outsole, and actual electroluminescent lighting illuminates a Roman numeral “X” on one heel, and the Doernbecher logo on the other.
The shoe will come housed in a jaw-dropping wooden box, and of course will include a charging set for the lighting.
While this Dunk High 10th Anniversary is exclusive to Saturday’s auction, stay tuned for a look at the entire Doernbecher Freestyle X collection in the coming days.
