We’re finally wrapping up this week’s Doernbecher Freestyle X collection rollout, having unveiled six of the seven shoes in this year’s class over the last three days, each (as usual) designed by a current or former patient at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. And now we bring you the seventh, Bella Stone’s Nike Free Run 5.0 Doernbecher.
For inspiration, Bella, 9, took a look in the mirror, creating a custom kick that embodies her endless energy and unbridled enthusiasm. Pink comprises much of the upper, with a rainbow-like iridescent Swoosh and a microphone near the heel, representing her love of singing.
A heart graphic is accented with a kidney shape, honoring her aunt Krissy who donated one of her kidneys to Bella when the latter was just two years old. Bella’s first initial is surrounded by 20 hearts, one for each of her surgeries, and motivational phrases are emblazoned around the outsole — Live, Dream, Hope and Faith.
Bella’s Free Run 5.0 Doernbecher releases November 9, along with the rest of the Doernbecher Freestyle X collection. Proceeds, as always, will benefit Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
