Continuing our gradual rollout of the new Doernbecher Freestyle X collection, we now move on to Daniel Pena’s Air Jordan 10 Doernbecher, release date scheduled for November 9.
Daniel, 12, a fanatical Michael Jordan fan, came to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to be treated for hemophilia. The ailment causes him problems in his ankles, so Daniel regularly reinvents himself as an athlete, taking up new sports to eschew his malady and physical limitations.
As such, the Air Jordan 10 Doernbecher is focused on reinvention, with the shoe donning a number of first-time-ever features on the model, including a translucent outsole and brand new collar logo, boasting Daniel’s initials. Further, Daniel’s fondness for video games informs the upper’s glossy camo print, while his history with BMX riding inspired the tire tread pattern printed on the heel’s pull-tab and transitioning into the sockliner.
