If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right? That’s certainly Converse’s philosophy on the new Converse Chuck Taylor II, a brand new sequel to the iconic All Star that’s less visually distinct than we were imagining.
In fact, the optics are nearly identical, less some tweaking in the midsole, but that doesn’t mean this is the same old, same old. Instead, Cons went largely under the hood for its updates, resulting in a shoe with classic good looks but a contemporary focus on performance and comfort.
A premium canvas construction delivers durability hand-in-hand with a high-quality touch, while the inner-lining utilizes soft perforated micro-suede for an incredible feel with socks or without. The famous Chuck Taylor tongue is retained, but this time around it’s infused with extra layers of padding for enhanced comfort around the ankle and instep, while the added tag on the inside calls out the shoe’s sequel status.
Finally, the least visible but most significant change comes below the foot. A full-length Lunarlon insole offers the utmost in cushioning and impact protection, while ramping up arch support.
An icon reimagined, the Converse Chuck Taylor II — All Star II, Chuck Taylor All Star II; whatever you want to call it — officially launches July 28.
