Nike is revamping the Brazil National Team’s uniform for 2012-13, embracing “Jeitinho Brasileiro” — translated as “The Brasilian Way” — the spirit and overall philosophy of Team Brazil.

The new Brazil kit focuses on tradition while still adopting some contemporary concepts . The yellow shirt — Amarelinha, or “Little Yellow One” — features a throwback style, with the solid yellow body offset by green trim and cuffs. Those cuffs can be turned over to reveal Pichaco (a style of local graffiti) on the inside, reading “Nascido Para Jagar Futebol,” or “Born to Play Football.”

The inside back collar also features a more modern art-style, with a special graphic done by artist Don Torelly.

Meanwhile, the Brazil away kit sports a very similar style and elements, but with one distinct difference: the body is entirely varsity royal.

Expect to see both kits debuted in the near future, as well as a wide range of lifestyle and training gear that will release for retail.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is crafted for destruction, and so is his custom Nike Destroyer jacket. (Well, maybe not the latter. I mean it’s not going to fall apart or anything.) That jacket also happens to be one of the coolest, most uniquely designed Destroyers we’ve seen, with stitched designs over the exterior that mimic Ibrahimovic’s tattoos. Designed to the preferences of one of the world’s best players, the Nike Gato Street CR7 features a premium ultra-soft leather, colored in off-white, contrasted by a pink inner-lining. With all the usual performance aspects of Nike’s best street soccer shoe, including the special ball-control texturing on the medial side of the shoe, this is a pair of which Cristiano Ronaldo can be proud. Now available on NIKEiD, the Nike Total 90 Strike IV iD features a plethora of color options, including the ability to change the base, accenting and even shot shield. Most impressively however, you can pick their cleat plate, selecting an outsole designed specifically for short and moderately wet grass, very wet and sloppy conditions, artificial grass, or a hybrid plate blending aspects of all three. The latest soccer boot designed specifically for the striker, the Nike T90 Laser IV, is set to make its debut later this month. And while I just spent a few minutes breaking down the shoe’s technical aspects here, I probably should have just posted this video. It takes the viewer through Wayne Rooney’s perfect strike, showcasing the boot’s technology and how it amplified and complemented Rooney’s natural striking ability. Created for elite strikers like Wayne Rooney, the Nike T90 Laser IV was built around adapting to the technical requirements and movement of the mobile striker. Weighing in at 20% lighter than the previous version, the shoe goes for a streamlined construction that prioritizes ideal fit and feel on the ball. The forefoot incorporates an “adaptive shield design” and high performance synthetic leather for a soft, snug feel.

Being the shoe of a striker, the T90 Laser IV was designed to cleanly and accurately strike the ball. It features a reconfigured shooting and swerve zone on the instep which matches the foot’s natural movement and flexing as the ball is struck, amplifying the foot’s power. Additionally, shape correction foam along the top of the shoe eliminates seams, allowing for a perfectly accurate strike of the ball.

The shoe isn’t just modeled around striking though, as the striker still has to make moves to get off his perfect shot. Newly improved studs maximize speed of release and acceleration without adding pressure to the studs.

Wayne Rooney will don the Nike T90 Laser IV on the pitch on September 17th, and the boot will hit retail worldwide on September 24th.

I expect the overlapping portion of the “European soccer fans & track jacket wearers” is somewhat significant (if you draw it I’ll post it), and it would appear that Nike knows it, with the introduction of several more Nike N98 Track Jackets, these ones all sporting the crests, colors and names of various UEFA clubs, including Inter Milan, Arsenal, Man U, FC Barcelona and Juventus. Hope Solo is blowing up during the World Cup, proving dominant in several wins so far and capturing the attention of sports fans worldwide. In celebration of the US’s advancement into semi-finals, and Solo’s instrumental role in it, the folks in Beaverton have put together this Nike Soccer “Pressure Makes Us” Hope Solo ad. It seems like she’s taking over NikeBlog right now (she’s been a recurring topic for a couple of weeks now), but I’m not immune to trends thus … so it goes. Nike has always done a good job of identifying trendsetters before they’ve really hit it big, and that’s continued this summer. Hope Solo obviously made a name for herself as one of the world’s top goalkeepers years ago, but this summer her star seems to be at an all-time high, proving instrumental in several US wins in the World Cup already, including a climactic victory over Marta and Brazil. And so it’s fortuitous timing that Nike Women’s “Make Yourself” campaign, shot by none other than Annie Leibovitz, included Hope Solo, being that her marketing power and international fame is nearing its apex.
