Jordan Brand’s been rethinking how it approaches girls’ styles lately, eschewing the bright pinks and fluorescent tones that are hallmarks of the category — both from JB and basically every apparel company — and replacing them with darker, more gender-neutral hues. Here’s your latest example: the Air Jordan 7 Black Mulberry.
Sure, the shoe’s still vaguely reminiscent of those cloyingly pink styles, but Jordan darkens the palette quite a bit here, and to great effect. A deep, deep purple covers the base of the leather upper, framed with black overlays for an impressively autumnal aesthetic. Pale purple and pink touches adorn the midsole and Jumpman logo, but they’re sparingly used so as to avoid overwhelming.
The latest, greatest reason to celebrate having comically small feet — or normal-sized ones, if you’re a young girl — the Air Jordan 7 Black Mulberry releases December 12, priced at $140.
