Call it the Air Jordan 1 High Banned, the Bred Air Jordan 1, or whatever you want. But you can certainly call it the best Jordan release of the month. Year?
A true footwear legend, the Air Jordan 1 High Banned is that iconic original colorway of the Air Jordan 1; the pair that allegedly was banned by the NBA due to its lack of white and netted Michael Jordan a fine every time he wore them in a game. (There’s some discrepancy over whether it may have actually been the Air Ship that brought the NBA’s wrath onto MJ’s feet, but the legend has taken on a life of its own at this point, and its heart beats with the Air Jordan 1.)
Black and red commingle on the premium leather upper, an all-time great combination that’s supplemented by a white midsole and historically accurate details — ie a Jumpmanless heel and “NIKE AIR” branding on the tongue.
Saturday’s the day. You can pick up the Air Jordan 1 High Banned September 3 at select retailers nationwide including Nike.com, with many stockists doing a lottery-style distribution starting on Thursday or Friday. So do your due diligence ASAP if you’re hoping to land a pair; showing up Saturday may just be too late9.
