Nike Sportswear’s proclivity for tapping one classic shoe to inspire a new colorway of another rears its head once more. This time the brand goes intersport during the process, yielding the Nike Air Huarache Bred.
Sure, “Bred” is a common portmanteau in the sneakerhead community, utilized for just about every shoe that combines black and red. But here the moniker is much more pointed, an homage to the most iconic shoe to carry that name: the Air Jordan 11 Bred.
The Huarache doesn’t just pair black and red, it mimics that AJ11’s famous use of them to a T. The blacked-out upper marries together a mesh-and-neoprene base with patent leather overlays. The outsole and sparse branding are vibrant in red. Even the midsole goes solid white, punctuating one of the best classic-meets-classic tributes in recent memory.
The Nike Air Huarache Bred is set to hit stores this fall, though further details elude us for now. Stay tuned.
