The University of Oregon will play its annual spring game on Saturday, and when the Ducks take the field they’ll wear uniforms that celebrate the 100th anniversary of the school’s first Rose Bowl team.
Oregon will be split into two squads for the game, the “Webfoots” and “Mighty Oregon.” Each team will wear a true throwback of the 1916 season, with the Webfoots wearing navy blue jerseys with yellow accents, while Mighty Oregon wears yellow-trimmed white jerseys. Both teams finish with gold pants and helmets. Both uniforms are rooted in the Ducks’ actual historic looks; until 1925, Oregon actually wore blue and yellow uniforms.
Finally, both 2016 Oregon Spring Game uniforms are finished with school- and state-specific callouts. The lyrics to “Mighty Oregon,” the university’s fight song, appear on each sleeve; the Oregon state flag is embroidered at the hip; and the Pacific Coast Conference logo, the athletic conference Oregon was a part of in 1916, adorns the helmet.
The 2016 Oregon Spring Game uniforms will be worn during the game on Saturday, April 30.
