It’s known by different if equally iconic nicknames — Air Jordan 1 High Bred; Air Jordan 1 Banned. Whatever you call it, it’s returning to shelves this year, and today we finally have a look at that 2016 edition.
A shoe absolutely steeped in folklore, the Air Jordan 1 High Bred, as legend goes — there’s some dispute around the specifics — was banned by the NBA, the league hitting Michael Jordan with a $5,000 fine for every game in which he wore the shoes; violation of the “uniformity of uniform” rule. Nike happily footed the bill for Jordan — that’s the kind of publicity money can scarcely buy — and an icon was born.
Now, it makes its long-awaited return to shelves — no “banned” X’s this time. The 2016 Air Jordan 1 High Bred release date is set for September 3. Below, check out early images of that retro edition.
