October 17, the Ohio State Buckeyes will host Penn State, a game in which they’ll debut a brand new all-black uniform for the first time in school history. A day earlier, fans can pick up the matching footwear.
Following the popularity of the Free Trainer 5.0 Ohio State that launched in August, the Nike Air Max Effort Ohio State boasts the same school spirit but a darker, on-theme palette. Black covers the Air Max Effort’s mesh-and-Fuse upper, with vivid red accents adding contrast, and tOSU’s buckeye helmet stickers emblazoned directly into the heel, finished in a reflective effect. When lighting changes, those buckeyes come alive.
The Bucks’ famous Ohio State logo appears on either tongue, meanwhile, and the backside of each tongue boasts a team-specific motivational phrase: “TRAIN LIKE A BUCKEYE.”
Launching as a lead-in to the team’s blackout the following day, the Nike Air Max Effort Ohio State release date is set for October 16 at select retailers. Stay tuned. We’ll bring you a better idea of where exactly those retailers are as the day approaches.
Update (10/15): The Air Max Effort Ohio State will launch at online retailers on October 16 at 10am EDT/7am PDT. Here’s the Eastbay.com purchase link.
