The Air Jordan 6 Sport Blue release is still three months away — it’s set for August 30 — but today brings what feels like the 100th preview of the hotly anticipated shoe.
Although, sure, the shoe having spawned this kind of fever pitch of hype certainly makes sense. In addition to its clean, classic good looks — a white leather upper gives way to black tongue and heel, while royal blue midsole and translucent outsole contrast — the shoe carries with it a cherished status. It’s one of the few OG colorways of any Air Jordan model — yes, it debuted back in 1991 — to have never been retroed.
Plus there’s the whole “September or Sport Blue?” naming ambiguity that, while no longer a mystery, seems to have added some mystique to the colorway. But that’s a story for another day. (A day that’s already come and gone, in fact: Read about it here.)
