Has the Swoosh designed a Johnny Manziel Nike cleat yet? Probably not. The Heisman Trophy-winning QB has only been signed to the brand for a couple of months, during which he’s been busy with draft prep and hasn’t really had the time to conspire with Nike’s design team. And that all assumes they’re even interested in creating Manziel his own shoe before he establishes himself as an NFL star; a big assumption. But what would such a product look like?
Well, if sneaker designer Quintin Williams had his way, they’d look something like this concept, which he created and dubbed the Nike Manziel. Williams used the 3D-printed construction of the Nike Vapor Hyperagility for inspiration, then added TPU and carbon fiber along the lateral side to stabilize the foot, and patent leather on the toe and forefoot to finish off the exterior.
Again, this is a concept — it was created by a non-Nike-affiliated designer and will not be produced by Nike — but it’s a pretty good one, no? What would you like to see in a Johnny Manziel Nike cleat?
