Already rumored — a rumor we promulgated just a week ago — the Nike KD VI Aunt Pearl release date is now official, set to hit retailers February 27.
The shoe was designed with Kevin Durant’s eponymous aunt in mind, a woman with whom Kevin had a close bond before she passed away in 2000, the victim of lung cancer. The predominantly pink floral-printed upper is an homage to a similarly-styled robe that Aunt Pearl wore, similar both in color and pattern. Blue branding and medial-panel starkly contrast, while the logo of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund adorns each tongue, proudly announcing the shoe as an official collaboration with the organization that raises awareness and funds in the battle against women’s cancers. Proceeds from the sale of the shoe will benefit the fund, founded by former NC State women’s basketball coach Yow in 2007 and established with assistance from Nike.
In addition to the remarkable shoe, an Aunt Pearl 5-panel hat and t-shirt will also be available at retailers in February.
