The Red River Shootout is renewed in eight days, one of college football’s great rivalries, and what with both teams involved wearing the Swoosh, it’s only fitting that Nike would do something memorable for them. Special edition footwear for example. So let’s get it started with the Sooners: The Nike Free Trainer 5.0 Oklahoma release date is set for Monday, October 7. (Edit: Nope; postponed until October 9.)
Done up in the image of OU, the popular training model starts out white toward the heel, transitioning to crimson moving forward through the woven construction. It’s unconfirmed, but I believe the crimson portions may be finished with 3M-style reflective leather.
Gold touches up the toe-Swoosh and interlocking “OU” logo on the tongue, while “BOOMER” and “SOONER” adorn alternating insoles.
Retail for the Oklahoma Free Trainer 5.0 is set for $100.
