UNC Military Appreciation Helmet

While today, September 11, is Patriot Day, Military Appreciation Day can be whenever one wants, with college football teams often holding just such a day during an early-season home game, an opportunity to wear a red, white and blue tribute in front of home fans. For the North Carolina Tar Heels, it’ll be September 28, against ECU, and these will be the UNC Military Appreciation helmets.

The one-off lids feature the usual overall design, but the interlocking “NC” logo on each side features a flag aesthetic — star-studded blue region in one corner, giving way to white-and-red stripes — while the triple-stripe down the center goes blue-red-blue, with white stars in the blue sections.
