Marquette Basketball Team to Wear Patch Honoring Rick Majerus

To pay tribute to alumnus and former coach Rick Majerus, who passed away December 1st of heart failure, Marquette University’s basketball team, which is outfitted by Jordan Brand, will wear a special commemorative patch on their jerseys.

The patch reads “RM” in honor of the legendary coach, who graduated from Marquette in 1970 before serving as assistant coach from 1971-1983, and then head coach of the Golden Eagles, then known as the Warriors, from 1983-1986.

Majerus’s head coaching career was largely defined by his 15-year stay at Utah, where he led the Utes to an appearance in the national championship game, which was preceded and succeeded by stints at Ball State and St. Louis, respectively. He also served as assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks for one year.
