Traditional FCS power Georgia Southern is the latest squad to pay tribute to the armed forces with a special set of uniforms. (Check out the just-previewed camo Oklahoma State gear here.) Lt. Col. Randall V. Simmons, representing the Georgia National Guard, presented GSU’s president and head football coach with the special kits yesterday, marking the new partnership between the school’s athletic department and the Georgia National Guard.
The new Georgia Southern camo football uniforms feature navy jerseys covered with a digital camouflage print, with “Always Ready, Always There” along the back and each player’s name on the front nameplate of their own jersey. Players can also wear special patches to pay tribute to family and friends who are serving or have served.
The traditional Georgia Southern helmet has undergone fewer changes, simply being refitted with yellow and red detailing, the latter representing the sacrifices of freedom.
When the camo Georgia Southern uniforms are debuted October 13th, it will be the first time the Eagles wear anything other than their traditional white or navy jerseys.
