Nike Zoom Kobe VII Release Date and Tech Details

The Nike Zoom Kobe VII release date is nearing, set for December 22nd stateside, so today let’s break down some of the tech behind the Supreme version of the shoe (that’s the version releasing on the 22nd). While the shoe has a number of impressive features, perhaps the most significant is the inclusion of two different midsole/ankle-wrap systems, similar to what we saw on last year’s Air Jordan.

The removable ‘Attack Fast’ insert comes with a much lower-cut ankle cuff, attached to a Phylon midsole with Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel, providing lightweight, responsive cushioning.

The ‘Attack Strong’ removable insert meanwhile is intended for the more physical, low post player. It has a higher ankle cuff, with the attached midsole opting for full-length Cushlon.

And then of course there’s the shoe itself, which sports technology similar to past models including a Flywire-reinforced upper and 3-D heel clip for enhanced support.

And, like many of the most interesting shoes, the Kobe VII features some story-telling elements. The exterior of the upper is cast in polyurethane and was designed to resemble the patterns of three predators: leopard, great white shark and black mamba.

In addition to that animal inspiration that appears on all Kobe VII’s, some colorways will feature a graphic pattern under the shoe’s ‘skin,’ each inspired by a different predator: leopard, great white shark, black mamba, poison dart frog and grey wolf.
