Dave White is something of a fixture in the sneaker community, typically more for his shoe-centric art than for actual shoe designs, but he has occasionally collaborated on very cool concepts like the Air Stab for British retailer Size?. And now Jordan Brand has enlisted his help creating something truly special for an auction they’re currently running to fund their WINGS for Future initiative.

For the Dave White Air Jordan 1 Retro, White started with a plain white Air Jordan 1 High. Drawing inspiration from the American flag and his love of the Harlem Globetrotters, he dipped the toe in gold, creating a nice contrast while keeping the shoe looking imperfect and customized. Red stripes along the back of the shoe provide eye-catching color, while the fact that they’re actual brush strokes by White himself means no two shoes are the same.

Only 23 pairs of the shoes were made, and they’re now available at auction.solecollector.com. The funds raised through the auction will benefit the Jordan WINGS for Future foundation, a wide-ranging initiative that helps out schools and kids in several ways, including building new basketball courts, buying new computers and letting youngsters work with Jordan designers.
