Nike’s New France National Team Kit

Nike France National Team Kit

A benefit of being one of the dominant national teams in the world is that your official supplier tends to pay you a little extra mind. Today, for example, Nike and the French Football Federation unveiled the new France National Football Team kit. The design strategy embraces the classic elements of France’s past kits, with some modern upgrades, both superficially and performance-driven. Aesthetically, the new shirts lose most of the white and red, opting for a predominantly solid blue shirt with some tonal striping and red on the underside of the sleeves, as well as the addition of a motto, “Nos Differences Nous Unissent” (roughly “our differences unite us” in English), placed behind the badge, adjacent to the wearer’s heart. The white shorts create a stark contrast, as do the red shin pads.

As for functional innovations, Dri-FIT is of course central to the construction, in order to lighten weight and enhance breathability, and the shirts feature a ventilated, ergonomic construction to reduce drag and encourage air flow.

Last but not least, Nike continues a push toward eco-friendly designs on the world stage. The France National Team Kit is Nike’s most environmentally-sustainable ever, largely using a microfibre polyester that is created from recycled plastic bottles.

The French National Team kit, as well as similarly branded Nike Sportswear apparel, will be available for retail starting February 5th, in advance of the the uniforms being debuted by France against Brazil on February 9th.
