On Sunday, November 21st, the Oregon State Beavers will take on Texas Southern in the Nike N7 Game, sponsored by Spirit Mountain Casino. The N7 Game, played during Native American Heritage Month, is meant to honor the culture of indigenous peoples and will benefit the Nike N7 fund, which is dedicated to providing “grants and product donations to community organizations committed to helping Native American and Aboriginal youth unleash their potential through sport.”
As a special look for this game only, the host Beavers will wear turquoise Oregon State basketball uniforms, proudly displaying the traditional color of friendship and community for Native Americans. This game is especially meaningful for OSU player Joe Burton (pictured above), who is the first member of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians in its 127-year history to earn a full athletic scholarship to a major university. The Beavers will also wear N7 Hyperdunk 2010′s, which will release for sale to the public.
