It’s that time of the week again, time when the college football weekend is in sight and we get to start talking about what Oregon Ducks uniforms we’ll see on Saturday. I guess this should have been obvious from the get-go, but it’s becoming pretty clear that the Ducks won’t wear the same uniform twice this season. Again label this as “rumor,” but I’ll arrogantly point out that I’ve been doing this since the Cal game and have been right all four times. Also, I’ve heard this rumor from two different sources, so I’m pretty confident. Anyway, this weekend the Oregon Ducks uniforms against USC will be … the debut of the carbon fiber helmets, black jersey, and “steel” pants. So sick, I absolutely cannot wait for this outfit. And I’ll go on the record with a prediction: 35-13 Oregon, on the strength of the Ducks secondary making Barkley look average. And check out past predictions here or the create-your-own-uniform generator here.
UPDATE: So Rob Moseley of the Register Guard confirmed that the Ducks wore their standard helmets in practice today. While this doesn’t mean they will wear any specific helmet on Saturday it–combined with the fact that the carbon helmets are rumored to be behind schedule and the team likely will not wear a helmet in the game that they’ve never practiced in before–does cast doubt on whether they’ll actually wear the carbon hats on Saturday. As such I’ll include the two most prevalent rumors below, the green helmet/green shirt/black pants and the blackout (which I don’t think will happen but it is Halloween, so who knows). I actually still think they’ll wear the carbon helmets, but we’ll see.
UPDATE x2: So yeah … green/green/black it was. I sort of called it.
