I know what you’re thinking; With the recent unveiling of Oregon’s new uniforms they simply don’t have enough combinations to look fly week in and week out. Well don’t worry, the boys in Eugene (and Beaverton I suppose) have it figured out. This weekend against Cal, signs strongly point to the Oregon Ducks donning throwback uniforms, including a brighter green jersey than the “thunder green” they typically wear, a mustard yellow pants-and-helmet combo, as well as the interlocking U and O logo of old. Possibly even Donald Duck mixed in somewhere. Keep in mind UO does have the option of using Donald on whatever apparel they want, they just can’t market the gear outside of Oregon. While initial reports were that the Ducks throwback uniforms would pay tribute to the Rose Bowl team of 1994, recent grainy photos indicate an Oregon retro uniform more similar to the 1998 Akili Smith-led Ducks. Nice, the Ducks have just about the best uniforms in college football, I think. Those colors just work well together. Too bad their uniforms didn’t really help against Boise State.

Yo Duck jerseys with wings, I’m really happy about your technological advances, and I’ma let you finish the season, but the ‘98 uni’s were some of the greatest Duck uni’s of ALL TIME.

Wow! These nifty new/old uniforms are the “shiz-nit”, playa! Break me offa piece o THAT action, chile! These bad boys will help get Masoli drafted high into the NFL because the pants really show off all of his sweet ass muscles that ripple like the waves in the ocean! Sorta.

Sir Lucas Leftfoot: Do not hold out for the Donald-in-the-O logo, as Nike would have to pay out Disney for the right to do that… and, as I recall, the whole Donald issue is the whole reason Oregon redesigned the “O” in the first place, so they would hvae proprietary rights.

@Rob: My understanding is that UO’s deal with Disney allows them to use Donald, but they a) would have to give Disney a cut on any merchandise sold and b) cannot market said merchandise outside of Oregon. I believe they’re free to wear it on the field, but of course Nike would prefer they wear the Nike-ized “O.” Although I could certainly be mistaken.
