From the Portland Business Journal

Nike has announced it will open its first Nike Sportswear retail store this week in New York and is offering a new service to let customers create customized footwear products.

The first Nike Sportswear store will open Friday at 21 Mercer St. in New York City’s SoHo district. The Beaverton-area sports apparel giant (NYSE: NKE) said the store will offer exclusive access to premium products such as the Flywire Windrunner, Air Max 90 Flywire and the 21 Mercer Nike LunaRacer.

“We’re putting the best of our entire collection under one roof, in New York City, so consumers from all over the world can access it,” Dermott Cleary, vice president of Nike Sportswear, said in a news release.

The SoHo site will also be the first store to feature Nike Sportswear Bespoke, a by-appointment service in which consumers can work one-on-one with Nike Designers to customize select Nike footwear styles. The service will launch at the SoHo site later in the fall featuring customization of Nike’s Air Force 1 sneakers.

The store opening follows the launch earlier this month of Nikesportswear.com.
